Tye Green Indoor
Bowls Club was established in 1972 and opened in 1976 as a six
rink complex. A few years later, as membership increased, the
building was extended to its present size of nine rinks. It is a
private club, owned and administered by it’s own members for the
purpose of Flat Green Indoor Bowling. In addition to our bowling
facilities, we have a bar catering for alcoholic and non-alcoholic
drinks, which is available to members.
The Club prides itself on a warm and friendly atmosphere, and seek
to improve the facilities as and when it is financially prudent so
to do.
The Club is registered with the Community Amateur Sports Club
Association, an organisation run by the Government, which allows
substantial tax relief for the benefit of the club.
We are affiliated to the English Indoor Bowls Association Ltd, the
Essex County Indoor Bowls Association, the Essex Ladies Indoor Bowls
Association and the London & Southern Counties Bowling Association.
Our membership at present is approximately 900. The Club is managed
by a Board of Directors who meet on the second Monday of each month.
The club is normally open 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year for bowling
from 9.30am to 10pm. Any alterations to these opening hours are
displayed on the Club notice boards.
Members are encouraged to support the club by playing in leagues,
friendly matches with other clubs, club organised competitions and
various Gala Days. The club and individual members participate in
National and County Competitions. Many competitions and fixtures are
mixed allowing husbands and wives to bowl together.
We also run a Colt’s section for young people from the age of 12
years.
